A recent article by the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) applauds how a partnership between the Long Beach Unified School District, CSULB and the Port of Long Beach is revolutionizing educational opportunities for local students.

In 2016, in support of the Long Beach College Promise, 菠菜网lol正规平台 opened the Academy of Global Logistics (AGL) at Cabrillo High School in collaboration with the Port and CSULB’s Center for International Trade and Transportation. The AGL pathway combines academic curriculum with industry-relevant training and information to support academic and career development in global logistics and supply chain management.

Through mentorship programs, workshops and internships, AGL has introduced hundreds of students to explore diverse career pathways in the international trade industry while also exposing students to high-quality science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

A study conducted in 2023 found that AGL courses help students understand the connection of math and science to international trade and develop problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills.

“[AGL] really set me up to learn how to communicate with others well and learn how to get out of my comfort zone and rely on other people,” said Adriana Sosa-Reyes, a Cabrillo High School graduate who is now enrolled at CSULB.
